Blues beat Oilers after Draisaitl's OT goal called back

The St. Louis Blues and Edmonton Oilers' clash Thursday night seemed to have a bit of everything.

Vladimir Tarasenko forced the contest to overtime, scoring the tying goal with 20 seconds left in regulation.

In the extra frame, Leon Draisaitl appeared to have won the game for the Oilers, but after a review, the goal was called back because Connor McDavid was offside.

The Blues went on to win in the shootout.

"The league has got to clarify some of these rules," McDavid said postgame, according to Daily Faceoff's Jason Gregor. "What's a kick? What's offside? What's goalie interference? It kind of depends on the night, I guess."

The Blues had gifted Edmonton a power play just 31 seconds into the contest after being penalized for starting the wrong lineup. Head coach Craig Berube's starting lineup included Brayden Schenn, yet Brandon Saad began the game on the line with Ryan O'Reilly and Josh Leivo.

Edmonton's potent power play capitalized on the opportunity. Zach Hyman buried a loose puck past Jordan Binnington to give the Oilers a quick 1-0 lead.
