Icekee Wee Wee! You can now vote for your favourite snowplow name, Hamilton
Hamiltonians can now cast a vote to help name 10 of the city's snowplows - just in time for the start of another Canadian winter.
The city's transportation operations and maintenance department announced the short list for its Name the Plow" initiative on Tuesday, after narrowing down thousands of entries to just 20 options.
And to the surprise of no one, Plowy McPlowface makes an appearance on the list.
A handful of Steeltown-related puns also made the cut, including Icekee Wee Wee, HAMBONI and The Hamilsnownian.
Local celebrities, such as actor Eugene Levy and Arkells lead singer Max Kerman, also showed up in the mix, with names such as Eugene Sleddy and Max Kermantator.
The other suggestions were as follows:
- Betty Whiteout
- Austin Plowers
- The Big Leplowski
- Olaf
- Plowasaurus
- CTRL-SALT-DELETE
- Sprinkles
- Darth Blader
- Spongebob Snowpants
- Mr. Plow
- Spready Mercury
- Melton John
- Blizzard Wizard
- Clearopathra
The voting period officially opened on Tuesday and will close on Jan. 8. The 10 winning names will be announced on the week of Jan. 9.
The contest will see 10 of the city's 115 snow-clearing vehicles renamed from their typical numerical identification, which is currently on the trucks.
The new names will also be visible via the city's online tracking tool, which allows the public to see the location of plows in real-time.
