‘Holidays are the hardest’: striking US workers rally round over festive season

Mine workers in Alabama among those organizing gift drives and strike funds to try to spread some holiday cheer

Groups of US workers have been on strike for long periods of time and they remain at loggerheads with their employers over the holiday period on issues such as pay, benefits, quality of life and staffing.

Workers have been forced to ramp up organizing efforts to mitigate the effects of lost income for those on strike, to ensure families are taken care of financially and with holiday gift drives.
