‘Large quantity of street drugs’ found after police arrest man with gun
Hamilton police have arrested a 29-year-old man on drug and weapon charges.
Police say they seized gun and a large quantity of street drugs," including fentanyl, cocaine and crystal meth, after receiving reports of a man with a weapon in the area of Main Street East and Wexford Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
Officers found and arrested the man in the Delta East neighbourhood, and seized a prohibited firearm, 66.8 grams of hash, 157.6 grams of fentanyl, 28.5 grams of cocaine and 1.9 grams of crystal meth. They also found a digital scale and empty drug bags, as well as a large amount" of Canadian and Czech cash, police say.
The man has been charged with several weapon- and drug-related charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
He is also facing a charge for failure of comply with an adult probation order. Police have not identified the man.
