Report: Bridgewater dislocated finger on throwing hand
Tests revealed that Miami Dolphins quarterback Teddy Bridgewater dislocated the pinky finger on his throwing hand in last Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Whether Bridgewater suits up for Week 18 will depend on swelling and how well he can grip the football, Rapoport adds.
"I can't forecast his availability," Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday, per CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones.
Skylar Thompson took over for Bridgewater in the loss to the Patriots and would be in line to start if the veteran can't go in the must-win finale against the New York Jets. The Dolphins signed veteran Mike Glennon to their practice squad, and he would presumably be next in line after Thompson.
McDaniel said earlier this week that Tua Tagovailoa, who is in the concussion protocol, is not in the team's plans for the meeting with the Jets.
The Dolphins do not control their own destiny entering Week 18. Miami will claim one of the AFC wild-card spots with a victory in the final game and a Patriots loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 18.
