Niagara Parks is hosting five job fairs during the next five months - starting with this Saturday - in the hopes of hiring more than 350 people as the provincial agency anticipates a busier 2023.

Niagara Parks has full- and part-time, seasonal and student positions available and will be hiring for a variety of roles in all departments.

We've been working with regional job builders - post-secondary institutions, school boards, other agencies - that help match potential employees with employers and then we have the in-park job fairs coming up," said David Adames, chief executive officer for Niagara Parks.

We're looking for cooks, kitchen help, culinary sales associates, heritage interpreters, retail and attraction associates, labourers - it's quite a spectrum."

People can apply on the spot for roles also in retail positions and welcome centre and attractions support, as well as roles at Niagara Parks' locally sourced restaurants, heritage sites, gardens and more.

If someone wants to work directly with the public, we have opportunities there. If they want to be a little more behind the scenes, we have those opportunities as well," said Adames.

He said like most employers in the tourism and hospitality sector, Niagara Parks continues to recover from the impacts the COVID-19 pandemic has had on its operations.

Adames said Niagara Parks saw half of the revenues it typically receives from U.S. visitors in 2022 but anticipates that going up to 75 per cent in the year ahead. He said the agency is also hopeful of seeing more visitors from around the world, including from Europe and Asia.

We're getting ready for a busier 2023."

Adames said Niagara Parks is anticipating a good turnout" for Saturday's job fair, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Table Rock Centre (grand hall, second floor), noting about 200 people have already registered for the event.
