Report: Colts request head coach interview with Rams' Morris, others
The Indianapolis Colts requested an interview with Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for their head coaching job, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The Colts also sent in requests to talk to Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen also received an interview request, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.
Morris has spent the last two seasons in charge of the Rams' defense. Los Angeles ranked 21st in points allowed this season after finishing 15th in 2021.
The 46-year-old previously served as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2009-2011, posting a 17-31 record. He also served as interim head coach of the Atlanta Falcons in 2020, guiding the team to a 4-7 mark.
Johnson has received notable attention after the Lions averaged 26.6 points per game in 2022, fifth most in the NFL. The former tight ends coach was promoted prior to the 2022 season. Glenn has spent the last two years as Detroit's defensive coordinator, though the team hasn't finished higher than 28th in points allowed during his tenure.
The Colts named Jeff Saturday interim head coach after firing Frank Reich in November. Saturday, who'd never coached higher than the high school level, finished 1-7.
Saturday stressed Monday that there'd be "significant change" if Indianapolis hires him on a full-time basis.
