Jenson Brooksby regained control of his emotions after a third-set slip-up on the way to a 6-3, 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 victory over No 2 Casper Ruud and a spot in a surprisingly US-filled third round at the Australian Open.

I was getting a little more frustrated out there that I didn't close it out, and my mentality was changing a little bit," said the 39th-ranked Brooksby, who sipped pickle juice in the fourth set at Rod Laver Arena.
