The NFL finally listened to its fans and reinvented the Pro Bowl event in 2023. Instead of a meaningless tackle football game that had become a parody of itself, the 2023 Pro Bowl will feature a wide array of fun skill competitions and a flag football game.

We break down the star-studded event, including each skill challenge, below.

Where: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas
When: Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. ET and Sunday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET
TV: TSN (Canada), ESPN/ABC (United States)

How It Works?

The conferences will first compete in eight skill games worth three points each, followed by two initial flag football games worth six points per contest on Sunday. The final tally from the skill competitions and both games will be the starting score for each conference for the last flag football game, which caps off the 2023 event.

The NFL's favorite pair of siblings will headline the Pro Bowl Games, with the Manning brothers facing off as coaches in the all-star event. After energizing Monday Night Football with their own telecast, the duo will bring their contagious and comedic energy to the Pro Bowl. Peyton will be responsible for the AFC roster, while Eli commands the NFC team. Who comes out on top is tough to say, but there's one thing for sure: There should be no shortage of entertainment with the Manning bros front and center.

Dodgeball is back for the 2023 Pro Bowl, and it all goes down on Thursday. Testing arm strength, reflexes, and agility, the league's brightest stars will leave it all on the line in an epic game of Dodgeball. There will be one matchup pitting each conference's offense against its defense before the winners move on to a winner-takes-all finale.

Lightning Round

What happens when talent and fun come together? The NFL's answer is the Lightning Round - a three-round competition that begins with a water balloon toss before players attempt to catch punts from a JUGS machine. Whoever has survived the first two rounds will then be tasked with trying to be the first to knock a bucket over the opposing head coach in a test of accuracy. While the winning conference will walk away with points, the losing coach will need a new change of clothes.

Who said the Pro Bowl had to only be about football? After seeing stars such as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers dabble in golf in recent years, the league is following suit. Players will compete to see who can drive a golf ball the furthest in The Longest Drive. Perhaps the winner will put himself in consideration to be on the next edition of "The Match."

Precision Passingcropped_GettyImages-1419314779.jpg?ts=16 Cooper Neill / Getty Images Sport / Getty

Another returning staple is back in 2023 in the Precision Passing competition. AFC and NFC quarterbacks will attempt to prove who is the most accurate passer by hitting targets - some of them moving - around the field. Geno Smith might be an early favorite after leading the league in completion percentage this season.

Best Catch

The Best Catch challenge is best described as the NFL's equivalent of the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest. Four players will demonstrate their best and most unique catches Thursday before fans vote on the best two for Sunday's final, which will be held in front of judges. With names like Justin Jefferson, Stefon Diggs, and Tyreek Hill on the Pro Bowl rosters, there should be an abundance of jaw-dropping grabs.

Gridiron Gauntlet

Gauntlets are designed to test the toughness and willpower of competitors, so there's no better place for a gauntlet challenge than at the Pro Bowl. The contest has been previously featured in the league's premier all-star event and will see a six-man team work through a course that includes a mix of blocking sheds and other unique challenges.

It can get dull watching the NFL's best kickers routinely nail 50-plus-yard field goals effortlessly. Luckily for fans, the Kick Tac Toe event will give them exactly what they want: The world's best kickers nailing trick shots as they attempt to play a game of Tic Tac Toe on a field-goal net. It'll be hard to bet against Justin Tucker in this one.

Move The Chains

What happens when you put the strongest larger-than-life athletes against each other? You get the Move The Chains challenge. Using the first-down markers, teams of five will race to pull a large amount of weight 10 yards for the ultimate bragging rights, staking their claim as the strongest unit in the NFL.

Finally arriving at the main event of the new-look Pro Bowl Games, the flag football matchups will be seven-on-seven and take place on 50-yard fields. There will be three games, but either the AFC or NFC will emerge victorious after the third and final contest. It'll be up to Peyton and Eli to turn their respective conference's most talented players into winners.
