Moving company employees charged with stealing $17,000 worth of jewelry in Burlington
Two moving company employees have been arrested after around $17,000 worth of jewelry was allegedly stolen from a residence in Burlington.
On Friday, Jan. 27, the moving company was hired to move some belongings from a home on Philip Street.
Halton police said that after the move was completed, the residents discovered around $17,000 worth of jewelry was missing from two jewelry boxes.
Police were called and an investigation resulted in a 27-year-old man from Hamilton being arrested on Monday, Jan. 30 and a 37-year-old man from Burlington being arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Both moving company employees have been charged with theft over $5,000.
They have since been released pending a court appearance.
Police said the jewelry was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
