'Struck her in the head': Morning shooting in Burlington leaves young woman, 20, in serious condition
A 20-year-old woman was shot in the head while driving her car early Monday morning in Burlington.
The woman is in serious but stable condition.
Halton Police are asking for help from anyone who have may witnessed or has information about the shooting that occurred in the area of South Service Road between Appleby Line and Burloak Drive.
Police say just after midnight, the woman was leaving the parking lot of the Playground Global, a gym that hosts recreational basketball games, at 952 Century Dr.
Multiple rounds were fired at the victim's vehicle, and one struck her in the head," police said in a news release. Police and EMS arrived on scene and the woman was taken to hospital.
The suspect is believed to have been standing outside of a vehicle at the time of the shooting and is believed to have fled northbound on Century Drive toward South Service Road. Anyone with dashcam footage of that area, including Appleby Line and Burloak Drive, is asked to contact police. It is believed the suspect was driving a light-coloured vehicle.
Police say it is not known why the victim and her vehicle were targeted.
