Golden Knights' Thompson leaves game with apparent leg injury

Vegas Golden Knights netminder Logan Thompson departed Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild after suffering an apparent injury.

Thompson appeared to hurt himself on a non-contact play. He didn't put any weight on his left leg as he exited the ice.

Backup goalie Adin Hill replaced Thompson in the contest.

Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy said postgame that Thompson will undergo an MRI on Friday.

"I saw him in there. He's moving around. We'll get an MRI in the morning and have a much better idea, and, hopefully, we'll have good news," Cassidy said after Vegas' 5-1 win over Minnesota, per The Athletic's Jesse Granger. "Hopefully, this is a quick one, but we won't know until tomorrow."

Thompson has been stellar for Vegas this season. The 25-year-old rookie entered Thursday's game sporting a .913 save percentage with a 19-13-3 record and was the Golden Knights' representative at the All-Star Game.

Teammate Jack Eichel offered high praise for Thompson.

"He's been the backbone of our group all year," Eichel said. "He's done a lot of heavy lifting and made a lot of big saves. It's really hard to see him go down. Hopefully, he's OK, and it's nothing serious."

Vegas is deep between the pipes, though. Hill, who owns a .908 save percentage in 19 games, is one of the league's better backups. The Golden Knights also have 106-game NHL veteran Laurent Brossoit at their disposal in the minors if Thompson misses any time.
