Opera Announces “Shorten” – A ChatGPT-Based AI to Summarize Webpages
With the increasing traction AI has been getting, every tech giant wants to join the bandwagon. Now, Opera has announced the introduction of a ChatGPT-powered AI solution that will create quick summaries of the webpage being viewed.
Named shorten", this feature can be accessed by clicking the shorten" button to the right of the address bar. A ChatGPT sidebar will then pop out that'll lay out a concise summary of the webpage.

Opera Following Microsoft's FootstepsOpera, with a 2.4% market share, is on the path of adding AI-powered tools to its browser, just like Microsoft and Google. Opera's move comes days after Microsoft announced its tie-up with ChatGPT to introduce an AI-powered version of Bing. It has also rolled out a waitlist for the same.
Microsoft was the first mover in this direction, which necessitated the need for similar programs and development from its competitors.
Tech giants like Baidu and Alibaba are also expected to adopt AI into their ecosystems in the near future.Google has also announced a LaMDA-based ChatGPT competitor named Bard. It is currently in the tester phase, with suggestions being invited from trusted developers.

With a record 100 million views in just two months, everyone now wants a piece of OpenAI's ChatGPT. However, with multiple browser integrations and upcoming paid plans, it remains to see how accessible ChatGPT would be for non-paid users.
