Report: Broncos interviewed Rex Ryan for vacant DC role
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton interviewed former NFL coach and current broadcast analyst Rex Ryan about the team's defensive coordinator opening, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
Ryan hasn't roamed an NFL sideline since 2016 when he was head coach of the Buffalo Bills, posting a 15-16 mark over two seasons.
The 60-year-old also spent six years as the New York Jets' coach (2009-2014), posting a 46-50 record and leading the team to a pair of AFC Championship Game appearances during his tenure.
Ryan brings plenty of experience as a defensive coordinator. The Oklahoma native served as the Baltimore Ravens' defensive line coach from 1999-2004 before being promoted to defensive play-caller from 2005-08.
Denver released previous coordinator Ejiro Evero from his contract to allow him to pursue other opportunities. He eventually accepted the same position with the Carolina Panthers earlier this month.
