UPDATE: Hamilton police investigating fatal crash on Burlington Street East

A 19-year-old man has died after a single-vehicle crash on Burlington Street East overnight.

Burlington Street East remains closed between Strathearne Avenue and Nikola Tesla Boulevard, and Parkdale Avenue North is closed north of Glow Avenue.

Emergency services were called to Burlington and Parkdale around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday for a vehicle that had crashed into a pole under the Nikola Tesla Boulevard overpass, said Const. Krista-Lee Ernst. The 911 caller came upon the scene after the collision.

The 19-year-old driver - the sole occupant of the vehicle - was pronounced dead on scene.

No other vehicles were involved and there were no other reported injuries.

The collision reconstruction unit is investigating. The road is expected to be closed for several hours Tuesday morning for the investigation.

The industrial area includes a number of businesses. Police are asking businesses and anyone in the area to check surveillance cameras between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. for a grey, four-door vehicle.
