Brantford men charged after woman assaulted, held at gunpoint

Brantford police have arrested and charged two men after a woman was assaulted, held at gunpoint and then, the next day, had a break in at her residence.

On Feb. 8 there was a verbal dispute" between the two men and the female victim at a residence on Darling Street, police said. The woman was assaulted and forcibly held at gunpoint."

The following day the victim found her residence on Albion Street had been broken into, with a number of items stolen or damaged.

The incidents were reported to police Feb. 9.

Police, including tactical officers from Brantford's emergency response team, searched locations on Darling Street and Autumn Road. Police said a replica firearm was seized.

Police allege the accused were found to be in violation of multiple parole and probation orders.

A 35-year-old Brantford man is charged with assault, forcible confinement, break and enter with intent, and fail to comply with judicial release order.

A 41-year-old Brantford man is charged with point firearm, forcible confinement, intimidation, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of weapon contrary to order, fail to comply with judicial release order, and breach of probation.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
