A quick trip to the gas station earned a Hamilton man an unexpected windfall of $69,176.

Back in December, Milan Milinkovic visited a Pioneer On The Run shop on Fennell Avenue to buy some washer fluid. A regular lottery player, the 51-year-old father of two also picked up a Lotto 649 ticket.

Milinkovic ended up winning a second-place prize in the Dec. 17, 2022, Lotto 649 draw. He visited the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) prize centre in Toronto last week to claim his cheque.

I left with the ticket and forgot the washer fluid!" Milinkovic said in an OLG news release.

In the news release, Milinkovic said he was shocked to discover his win after scanning the ticket on the OLG app.

It was surreal more than anything. I have a permanent smile on my face!" he added in the release.

Milinkovic plans to invest in real estate, take a vacation somewhere warm or visit his home in Croatia.
