Tiki Barber: Rodgers too 'sensitive' to play in New York

New York Giants legend Tiki Barber doesn't think Aaron Rodgers would fare well in the Big Apple.

On Wednesday's episode of his WFAN show "Tiki & Tierney," Barber questioned whether the Green Bay Packers quarterback would be able to handle the increased media attention if he joined a New York team.

"It just made me start to realize that if he is that sensitive that he gets upset that people - reporters, opinion makers, influencers, whoever - wanna talk about him, he is going to struggle in New York," Barber said. "And I don't know if it's the right fit for him. I don't know if I want him in New York if this is going to be his reaction to things that don't matter."

Barber's remarks came in response to Rodgers' appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" earlier this week when he said that NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport "don't know shit" about him.

Barber also referenced Rodgers' upcoming "darkness retreat," during which he'll remain in isolation for four days to contemplate his future.

"When you go and you're doing something that feels odd to normal society, which is going to sit in a cabin in the woods for four days and complete sensory isolation, we're gonna talk about it," Barber said. "You have to. It's our job to, and for him to get offended by that, he's not gonna handle the intensity of the New York mediascape."

Rodgers signed a three-year, $150.8-million contract extension with the Packers in March 2022 but has yet to decide if he wants to return to the team for a 19th season, retire, or play elsewhere.

The New York Jets are reportedly among the teams that have reached out to the Packers about Rodgers' availability.
