Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is focused on the task at hand.

"Being a head coach right now is not in my thought process," Bieniemy said Thursday during his introductory press conference with Washington, according to Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports. "I live in the moment. I've got to be where my feet are. Right now, my feet are planted right here."

The Commanders hired Bieniemy as their offensive coordinator last week. He spent the last decade with the Kansas City Chiefs and had been their offensive coordinator since 2018. Bieniemy has been to five straight AFC championship games, with two Super Bowl wins in that stretch.

The 53-year-old has been passed over for many head coaching jobs in the last few seasons, and many observers believe he made a lateral move to Washington to further his chances of landing a position.

"Right now, I'm the offensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders," Bieniemy said, according to Pro Football Talk. Being a head coach, if that's to happen, it will take care of itself."

Bieniemy will be tasked with fixing a dysfunctional Commanders offense that ranked 24th in points per game last season and hasn't finished in the top 20 since 2017.
