Grandad’s Donuts to close Sunday for delayed renovations
Attention all doughnut-loving Hamiltonians - your days to stock up on orange twists and ghostbusters are numbered.
Grandad's Donuts announced late last month that their final day of operations, before temporarily closing for major renovations, is slated for March 12.
The iconic North End doughnut shop announced last August that they were expecting to close this winter to make way for the total revamp, but the work was delayed in January due to permit issues.
Thank you for being patient with us while we secured our date. We love you all so much," the business wrote in a Facebook post. We can't wait to show you what we've got planned."
Owner Barb Aiello told The Spectator the renovations would see their kitchen and display cases double in size, while their long-standing dine-in seating will become stools at the window.
There will also be an express pickup window installed at the side of the James Street North building and the washroom will be fully accessible.
The renovations are expected to take at least eight weeks, according to a post on their social media.
