Shohei Ohtani made his first appearance ever in the World Baseball Classic. Shohei recorded five strikeouts against China and notched a two-RBI double. In the top of the sixth inning, Pei Liang cranked a solo home run to get China on the board. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Shohei Ohtani hit a single and reached base for the fourth time of the night. Japan would go on to bring in two more runs to bring the final score to 8-1.
