Utility pole on losing end of bus-cab Cannon crash

A two-vehicle East Hamilton crash took out a utility pole and closed Cannon Street East Saturday morning.

There were no serious injuries in the collision between an HSR bus and a Blue Line taxi shortly before 8 a.m., police said at the scene.

Workers could be seen assessing the scene - a damaged utility pole resting on the front end of the bus and loose wires dangling alongside the freshly plowed road - outside Bernie Custis Secondary School.

The crash closed Cannon between Melrose and Balsam avenues in the early morning hours.
