Report: Lions, Sutton strike 3-year, $33M deal
The Detroit Lions are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton to a three-year, $33-million contract that includes $22.5 million guaranteed, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Sutton spent the last six seasons with the Steelers, who drafted him in the third round in 2017 out of Tennessee.
The 28-year-old brings plenty of slot and outside versatility to Detroit. He set career highs with 15 pass breakups and three interceptions in 16 games last season while allowing a 65.3 passer rating on 73 targets.
Bolstering the secondary is one of the Lions' top offseason priorities after they allowed 7.9 yards per completion to rank second-last in the NFL last year. Detroit also rosters corners Jeff Okudah and Jerry Jacobs, among others.
