A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in a fatal stabbing at an Etobicoke banquet hall.

Police issued the warrant for Omary Bent, 26, from Toronto, who faces charges of second-degree murder.

He is considered armed and dangerous," police said in a statement.

In a release, Toronto police identified the victim as 24-year-old Shacquan Harrison from Toronto.

The incident happened around 9:40 p.m. near Highway 27 and Steeles Avenue West.

Officers attended the scene in response to reports of gunshots fired. Upon arrival, they confirmed that a gun had been discharged after an altercation took place at the banquet hall.

A victim was stabbed during the altercation and attended a nearby hospital. Another victim walked into a different hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrested a man and recovered a firearm.

Just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, police said one of the victims died from their injuries, making this the ninth homicide of 2023.
