Road closures, start time and everything else you need to know about Sunday’s Around The Bay Race

The annual Around the Bay Road Race is taking over the city Sunday (March 26). Road closures in the core and beyond start as early as 6 a.m. and go through the day.

Here's what you need to know about the race.

Start: 30K and relay races, 9:30 a.m. at York and Bay; 5K, 9:45 a.m. at Bay Street in front of FirstOntario Centre.

Finish: Inside FirstOntario Centre from approximately 11:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Field: 6,500 competitors

Health and Fitness Expo (main concourse FirstOntario Centre)

Friday, March 24, 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 25, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Road Closures on Sunday, March 26

Valley Inn Road from city limit to York Boulevard from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

York Boulevard from Plains Road West to Dundurn Street (eastbound only Hamilton bound) CLOSED from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

York Boulevard from Dundurn to Queen Street reduced to one eastbound lane (south curb lane); all York eastbound traffic will be detoured south on Queen Street from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

York Boulevard from Queen Street to Bay Street (eastbound only) CLOSED from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

York Boulevard westbound traffic detoured onto Highway 403 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Highway 403 York Boulevard on-ramp CLOSED from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bay Street between Main Street West and York Boulevard CLOSED from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Best places for spectators

(from ATB website)

Corner of Victoria Avenue and Burlington Street (approximately 3.2 km into route).

Near ramp from Burlington Street to Woodward Avenue North (10 km). This is the first relay point.

Beach Boulevard (15 km) near the lift bridge (Get to this area prior to the race start).

LaSalle Park, Burlington (21 km).

Dundurn Castle at York Boulevard and Dundurn Street (28 km).
