Glendale Secondary School cleared after another bomb threat
Hamilton police have cleared Glendale Secondary School after a bomb threat Monday morning, the third such threat at the east Hamilton school in a month.
Police were called to the school, at 145 Rainbow Dr., around 8 a.m. after a staff member discovered an email that claimed there was a bomb in the school, said Const. Indy Bharaj.
The school was evacuated. Police cleared the school and staff and students were allowed back inside by about 10:15 a.m.
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board said affected staff and students were sent to nearby Viola Desmond Elementary School before being allowed back inside Glendale.
The bomb threat follows similar emailed threats at the high school on March 21 and Feb. 27. In each case, an email was sent to a staff member around 8 a.m. prompting police to respond to the school. In all cases, the school was searched and deemed safe, and classes were allowed to resume.
Another similar threat was also emailed to staff at Westmount Secondary School on the Mountain on March 21. That school was also evacuated, searched and eventually deemed safe.
No charges have been laid in any of the cases. The investigations into all the threats continues.
