Former Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell is signing a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Falcons hosted the 36-year-old on a free-agent visit prior to his signing and were one of many teams to show interest in his services. The Ravens surprisingly released Campbell earlier this month after three seasons with the organization.

A six-time Pro Bowler, Campbell adds a veteran pass-rushing presence to the Falcons' defense. He's recorded 99 career sacks since coming into the league as a second-round pick in 2008. Campbell ended the 2022 campaign with 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Atlanta has been busy in free agency, especially on the defensive side of the ball. In addition to Campbell, the Falcons also signed safety Jessie Bates, defensive tackle David Onyemata, linebacker Kaden Elliss, and cornerback Mike Hughes, among others.

The Falcons aim to improve on a 7-10 showing in 2022, in which the defense ranked 23rd in points allowed and 27th in yardage.
