Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot cancels concerts due to health issues
Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot announced the cancellation of his 2023 tour dates, citing health issues.
In a statement Tuesday, 84-year-old Lightfoot asked for privacy as he deals with health related issues."
The singer was expected to hold concerts in the U.S. and Canada this year.
His sole Canadian tour date was set for October in Kitchener, Ont.
Lightfoot was to tour across the U.S. from April to October, according to his website.
Last July, Lightfoot was inducted into the Mariposa Folk Foundation's hall of fame in Orillia, Ont. Orillia-born Lightfoot said the festival tributes made him cry.
Lightfoot has faced minor health issues in the past. In 2021, he suffered a fractured wrist after a fall at home.
The fall nearly resulted in cancelled concerts, but after working with a physiotherapist the singer said he felt in good health.
The statement notes that Lightfoot is unable to confirm dates for the rescheduled shows.
