Mississauga woman charged in connection with QEW crash near Lincoln that killed 10-year-old boy
A Mississauga woman has been charged in relation to a multi-vehicle crash that took the life of a 10-year-old Beamsville boy last month, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said Friday.
The OPP tweeted that the unnamed 31-year-old female driver had been charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm, in relation to a collision that took place on the Queen Elizabeth Way highway at around 5:30 p.m. on March 30.
The crash happened on the Niagara-bound lanes of the QEW near Tufford Road in Lincoln.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the female driver hit the back of a white SUV driven by a 44-year-old Beamsville woman, with two 10-year-old brothers in the back seat.
Their car was pushed forward into another car with a 37-year-old female driver and a 10-year-old girl inside, both from Milton, who went to hospital with minor injuries.
One of the brothers had to be extricated from the car and later died in hospital, Schmidt said.
The 44-year-old driver, whom Schmidt named as the mother of the boys, and the other 10-year-old both went to hospital with minor injuries.
The 31-year-old driver was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene.
Police did not say when the driver is expected to appear in court.
