Managed to find one last week at my LGS. Recently I shot(then bought) one of the new 1985 SBL's in 45-70. I absolutely loved it. Great accuracy, smooth action, and barely any recoil.

After buying the 336 I stopped home, cleaned it, grabbed some ammo and headed to the range.

After trying Leverevolution, Deer Season, Powrshok, and American Whitetail, I had similar results as with my Henry Steel 30-30: for whatever reason, the 336 shot the most accurately with the Hornady AW 150 grain ammunition.

The action is just as smooth as the SBL, the accuracy with the right ammo is sub-moa, which blew me away because my eyes are terrible and do not like buckhorn irons at all. The trigger is crisp, and the lever, while small even for my hands, functioned flawlessly.

The fit and finish of the rifle is nearly flawless, with a slight difference of color between the stock and forend.

I'm glad I made the choice to follow up my 1895 SBL purchase with the 336 in 30-30. The 45-70 will be my main rifle when tracking in the Adirondacks, while the 336 will be my deer rifle while hunting my property in Southern Zone NY.

This rifle is light, quick to aim, and I am pleased with how Ruger is handling the Marlin line of rifles, and look forward to more variations/calibers that are already on the horizon and possibly the manufacturing line.
