Do all guns require primers to shoot?

Total newbie here, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but do all guns require primers to shoot? I'm looking to get my first gun, either a rifle or a shotgun, and I want to make sure I get everything I need to shoot it.

I know I'll need the gun, ammunition, lubricant, and a cleaner of some sort. Do I need to buy primers as well? If so, how do you all find them? All the shops in my area have none in stock, and shipping is super expensive.
