How to get rid of an unwanted gun in Texas?

I am worried that my husband is going to kill himself. He has made comments about wanting to shoot himself in the head, and we have three guns. If I can get him to agree to it, I want to get rid of the guns. I think they are too much of a risk, and we don't even use them.

Only thing is, I have no idea how to get rid of a gun. Looking up TX laws, the only thing I could find was stuff about when you want the gun. I've heard of gun buyback programs, but I can't find any info online about it. My husband is the gun owner, not me, so I am guessing he would have to be the one to sell...will gun stores take used weapons? I'm pretty sure you can't just put that shit on ebay right?

I thought about calling the police department to ask, but I don't want them to overreact and take him to a mental hospital...not sure what to do. The depression is always going to be there, so long term I don't see the point in storing them with a friend temporarily.
