Towers touted as some of Hamilton's tallest got a boost this week as the future condo development site was cleared.

CHCH's former headquarters was demolished to make way for the planned 32-storey Television City towers by developer Brad Lamb.

Lamb told The Spectator last year that he expects the long-delayed project to be built in 2026.

When he first pitched the plan in 2017, Lamb drew the ire of William Shatner, whose likeness was used to promote the project.

Plans continued to take shape despite concerns from Durand neighbours about the height of the towers.

Demolition started on the 1980s-era former TV studio at the corner of Caroline and Hunter streets this week. The plan ensures a 172-year-old stone mansion will keep standing on the Jackson Street West site.

CHCH moved out of that building in 2021 and into their new home on Innovation Drive in Flamborough last April following a transitionary period.

The TV station started out in their former Jackson and Caroline home in 1954 before expanding into the now-demolished addition in 1984.
