A scratch doughnut baker and more counter help are wanted for the soon-to-reopen Grandad's Donuts.

Grandad's Donuts has been temporarily closed for major renovations since March, and Hamilton's iconic North End doughnut shop is looking for lots of extra helping hands.

On their website and Facebook page, Grandad's says they are looking to fill positions for both day and night shift for front of house, overnight baker, overnight decorator and a day shift decorator.

Owner Barb Aiello previously told The Spectator the renovations would see their kitchen and display cases double in size, while their long-standing dine-in seating will become stools at the window after the expected eight-week closure.

There will also be an express pickup window installed at the side of the James Street North building, and the washroom will be fully accessible.

Commenters on Facebook were not only raving about the coffee shop's doughnuts but gave kudos to the decent wage offered.

The starting wage listed on Facebook is $17 per hour for day shifts and $19 for overnight shifts.

Carly Grant, another owner, said she isn't quite sure when the doughnut shop will reopen. They are doing two days of interviews next week for all positions, so get your resume in by Monday.

It's not set in stone, the date, we are still in the middle of it all with a lot to get done," she said.

Those interested in applying for the jobs can send a copy of their resume to cg.grandads@gmail.com and/or sam.whipps@hotmail.com.
