Steady rain couldn't deter Marcy Singh from attending a protest outside Marineland, Saturday.

Even if it was a torrential downpour, we'd be here," the Mississauga resident said as she stood outside the Niagara Falls attraction with her friend Sidney Spearing.

We're here to support the cause."

The friends were among dozens of people who lined the grassy area outside Marineland, which opened for its 62nd season Saturday.

I was here (protesting) when Kiska was here and we were trying to change her conditions and unfortunately we lost her a few months ago," Singh said.

I'm here to avenge her death, and to save the belugas and dolphins and to raise awareness."

Kiska, Canada's last remaining orca in captivity, died in March. Earlier this month, Marineland confirmed the deaths of a dolphin and a beluga.

A statement on the attraction's website attributed to owner Marie Holer, widow of founder John Holer, said the park's animals are loved, well cared for and their best interests will forever guide our decisions regarding their care."

We have a strong record of providing for the welfare of our animals and will continue to prioritize their health and well-being as a central focus of our mission," the statement reads.

Marineland confirmed in January it is seeking a buyer to transition" the attraction for the future.
