Two people have been transported to hospital, one in critical condition, following a two-vehicle crash on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway Tuesday morning.

The parkway was initially closed in both directions at Upper Gage Avenue following the crash, which involved a motorcycle and a car, around 8:30 a.m., said Hamilton police. By around 9 a.m., police said eastbound lanes had reopened and westbound traffic remains closed between Dartnall Road and Upper Gage.

The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Const. Krista-Lee Ernst. The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The road closure has caused massive traffic problems, she said, adding that police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

The stretch of the westbound Linc is expected to remain closed for hours, likely into early afternoon.

The collision reconstruction unit is investigating.
