Pho-get about sleeping — 11 Hamilton restaurants open late
It's nine o'clock, better go to bed ... sometimes it feels like there are few options for food and fun late at night in Hamilton.
Even Wimpy's Diner - once a bright star on Main Street West 24 hours a day - has gone dim, now closing after suppertime. Those big-city ambitions fading into the night.
But wait, there are still some delicious late-night food possibilities for hungry Hamiltonians:
Tall Tree Sandwich CompanyThe Stipley neighbourhood sammy shop recently announced extended hours, bucking the trend of restaurants cutting late-night service.
Starting May 6, Tall Tree extended its hours to 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday and until 12:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
The King Street East takeout spot between Sherman and Gage avenues offers artisan" sandwiches, soups, salads and sides. The fried chicken sammy is $11, the cod po'boy is $16.
Tall Tree is open for delivery and pick up at 1000 King St. E. Order online at talltreesandwich.com.
Toronto PhoGet a special pho or a tofu pad Thai - both $16.95 for dine in and takeout* - at the Stone Church Square location of this four-site Vietnamese chain until midnight seven days a week.

Tracie's PlaceBelt out Return of the Mack" in the style of Mark Morrison after eating the Big Mac Daddy nachos or fries at this everyday karaoke bar near the central Mountain brow.

Ajio SushiFind Korean-Japanese eats at Ajio in the International Village until 11 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday. The Ajio special - an app, a special roll and two orders of sushi or sashimi for $27 - is quite special.

Brassie PubThe Brassie offers British/American-style fare late into the evening in Ancaster's Town Plaza. Open weekdays and Sunday until midnight and to 2 a.m. Thursday until Saturday.

The ShipAugusta Street ahoy! There are a bunch of late-night spots on the strip and nearby on James Street South. The Ship is a good one.
The kitchen at the 23 Augusta St. burger and seafood joint closes at 11 p.m. weekdays and Sunday and closes at 1 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Try the Sweet Cheezus burger with a quinoa and black bean patty for $22 - meat eaters can sub in an eight-ounce beef patty. theship.ca
BAB KoreanFind delicious Korean eats at three locations in the city until 10 p.m., and 9 p.m. on Sunday. BAB's hours are the same at 387 Barton St. E., between Victoria and Wentworth; at 1467 Main St. W., near Cootes Drive; and at 570 Upper Wellington St., near Queensdale, but the menus are slightly different.
The Korean fried chicken is fantastic at the Barton location - $15 for an appetizer order, $35 for the big order - or for a healthier option, try the kimchi bibimbap for $16.
The MuleTacos are available every night of the week at this trusty taco and tequila spot. The Mule restaurant and bar is open until 2 a.m. daily and takeout is available seven days a week until 11 p.m.
