Oakville and Milton Humane Society looking for information on malnourished dogs
The Oakville and Milton Humane Society (OMHS) is looking for answers following the discovery of three severely malnourished dogs in the community.
Humane society staff noted in a Thursday, June 8 appeal that within the last week three dogs have been taken in at the shelter in terrible condition."
They said an older female dog was found on Kerr Street and described her as under socialized, diabetic, blind in one eye and extremely underweight.
Two younger dogs were found at Maplegrove Plaza and are also described as malnourished and under socialized.
"OMHS is a resource for anyone who cannot afford to provide care for their pets," said Stephanie Aleksich, OMHS Manager of Animal Protective Services.
If you can't afford to care for your pet, we can help. It's heart-wrenching to see animals like this in our community, and we encourage people to reach out before it gets to this point."
Anyone with information about these malnourished dogs is asked to contact the humane society at 905-845-1551 or shelter@omhs.ca.
The humane society relies 100 per cent on donations from the public to protect the most vulnerable animals in the community.
Aleksich noted that residents who have no information about these dogs can still make a difference in their recovery and support other animals at the shelter by making a donation.
She said donations will be matched by A1 Air Conditioning and Heating (up to $2,500) until June 10.
