Dalvin Cook wants to team up with DeAndre Hopkins: 'Epic for the NFL'
Free-agent running back Dalvin Cook welcomes the idea of teaming up with star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who also remains unsigned after recently being released.
"If we end up on the same roster, that would be something epic for the NFL," Cook said on "The Adam Schefter Podcast" recently.
The Arizona Cardinals released Hopkins in May after three seasons, and the Vikings parted ways with Cook following six campaigns in early June. Cook said he's in no rush to pick a new place to call home.
"I know his mindset, and I (did) play against D-Hop a numerous amount of times," Cook told Schefter. "When I (have) been with D-Hop, we (did) chill together, we (have) been around each other, and I kind of see the person that he is. He wants to win."
He continued, "I want to go win. Like I said, the money gonna come, and that's going to happen. But like as far as going to lift that (Vince Lombardi) Trophy up, he got the same mindset as me."
Hopkins has visited the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots. Cook has yet to meet with any teams since being cut but has been linked to multiple clubs, including the Miami Dolphins.
Cook topped 1,000 yards on the ground for the fourth straight season in 2022 en route to earning his fourth career Pro Bowl berth. He finished last year with 1,173 rushing yards (4.4 per carry) and eight touchdowns to go along with 295 yards and two scores on 39 receptions.
Hopkins caught 64 passes for 717 yards and three touchdowns last season. The five-time Pro Bowler has appeared in only 19 games over the previous two campaigns.
"You know what you're getting out of D-Hop, and you know what he going to bring to your roster," Cook said. "It's the same for me. The film speaks for itself."
