Kelce claps back at Chase: 'Don't you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes'
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has a message for Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase following his comments about Patrick Mahomes.
"Thought it was a little bold," Kelce recently said on his "New Heights" podcast. "(Mahomes is) a two-time league MVP, two-time Super Bowl MVP. To say 'Pat who' is like... I don't know."
Chase said last week that Bengals star Joe Burrow is the NFL's best quarterback, adding, "Pat who?" after being told that Burrow himself ranked Mahomes ahead of him.
"I don't think there's any argument right now," Burrow previously said.
Mahomes later shared a photo of himself at the Chiefs' Super Bowl ring ceremony with the caption, "That's who."
"It is what it is, dog," Kelce said. "Who doesn't love some good locker room banter? Shoutout to Ja'Marr Chase for holding it down for his QB, but don't you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes now. If you want to talk your shit, talk your shit, pimp. Just better back it up."
Burrow has led Cincy to the AFC title game twice in the last two seasons and is 3-1 as a starter against Mahomes, including the playoffs. The 2020 No. 1 pick tossed a career-high 35 touchdowns in 2022 en route to finishing fourth for the MVP award.
Meanwhile, Mahomes was named NFL MVP last season after leading the league with 5,250 yards and 41 TD passes. He then helped Kansas City win its second Super Bowl title with him under center.
Kelce and Mahomes have formed one of football's most productive duos, with the tight end catching 46 regular-season touchdowns from Mahomes in the last five seasons.
Kansas City and Cincinnati have now met in the AFC title game in back-to-back seasons, with each winning one matchup. The Chiefs will host the Bengals in Week 17 this year.
