James Cook believes he's done enough to be the Buffalo Bills' starting running back to begin next season.

"Obviously RB1," Cook said on "The Rich Eisen Show" when asked about his role on the team. "(I'll) just try to come in and do what I do. Change the game with my versatility. Catching the ball out of the backfield. Pass-blocking. Just try to do what I can do to help the team win games and ultimately win the Super Bowl."

Cook said he's ready to assume the RB1 role ahead of his second season.

"I'm ready to work. This is a big step and a goal in my life that I wanted to accomplish, being RB1 in the NFL. Just do what I can do to help my team win games."

The Georgia product rushed for 507 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 5.7 yards per carry as a rookie last season. He also added 21 receptions for 180 yards and a score.

Buffalo acquired veteran experience at tailback this offseason by signing Damien Harris and Latavius Murray. Nyheim Hines joins Cook as the only other holdover within the position group. Devin Singletary, who led the Bills in rushing yards in each of the past four seasons, joined the Houston Texans as a free agent in March.

"My goal is to be an All-Pro or Pro Bowler like my brother (Dalvin)," Cook said.

Dalvin Cook remains a free agent after the Minnesota Vikings released him earlier this month. James said a reunion with his brother in Buffalo would be "a little hard."
