Morse code on keyboard LEDs during a kernel panic
by chris_on_linux from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6CRR2)
Hello everyone,
I migrated to Arch Linux today! I managed to install GRUB and the MATE desktop environment along with the Compiz window manager and Pipewire. However, after rebooting, I got a kernel panic with a blank screen and a blinking Caps Lock key. I rebooted one more time and the problem was fixed. I don't know what the cause of the kernel panic was and I don't know how to recreate it. I came upon this article (https://lwn.net/Articles/21858/) saying that the Linux kernel would blink the error codes in Morse code using the keyboard's LEDs, but the article is two decades old. Does the Linux kernel still blink the error codes in Morse code if it can't reach a display?
Thanks,
Chris
