Slackware install in a Chromebook possible?
by silverlining from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6D21X)
I discovered how to successfully install Linux in an old HP Celeron Chromebook (that was given to me) by entering Developer Mode and running crouton. It was my first experience to learn about chroot and worked smoothly. Unfortunately, crouton only has Ubuntu, Debian, and Kali distros to choose from. I chose Debian but what I really want is my beloved Slackware. I've always installed Slackware using fdisk or cfdisk on PCs and it is easy to overwrite any existing partition that way and even dual-boot.
Might it be possible to simply overwrite the Chromebook's chroot Debian installation (as it would be on a PC drive) with Slackware? I imagine it would entail a bash script like crouton tailored for Slackware Linux. I don't know where to start to try it and I presume the biggest difficulty would be getting Chrom OS to accept a Slackware ISO on USB stick and run its installation scripts on the chroot "partition."
