Hardware/Software issue with UEFI
by KrazyKanuk from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6D2BY)
I moved from a LGA1151 system (basically from 2017). I bought MSI Mag tomahawk z690 motherboard, 2 16GB DDR4 memory sticks, 2 M2 hard drives (Samsung 2GB, WD 2GB), Asus 3060 8GB video card. Problem is when I go into the BIOS and try to set it to UEFI i am either in a BIOS loop or when I install linux (Slackware current 64) it installs LILO and not ELILO even though I have a partition set to EFI. I have the following partitions on the M2 drives:
Code:Samsung Drive
100M of EFI type (for LILO/ELILO)
4GB linux swap
1.8GB linux filesystem (for /)
Western Digital
2GB linux filesystem (for /home)What I have done in BIOS so system boots but wont do the ELILO or boot after completed (even with a boot memory stick)
Code:Advanced
BIOS CSM/UEFI Mode: CSM
Boot
FastBoot: Disabled
Boot Mode: Legacy+UEFI (Set to UEFI creates BIOS loop)
Boot1 USB Key
Boot2 CD/DVD Rom
Boot3 HardDisk Samsung
Security
No Admin Password
SecureBoot DisabledAny help/suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
