wx & GTK problems

"Recently" some software that seems to require some of the Gnome support tools is failing. Specifically for me, Evolution the mail client and Aegisub the subtitle editor have quit working. Evolution malfunctions and does not display mail. This is a known bug due to some upstream changes in wx/gtk stuff but it is not fixed by reinstalling the software and deps. Aegisub fails to find some gtk libs and doesnt start. On this machine both run just fine in ubuntu and aegisub runs in win11 but that isnt much of a solution for me.
I am considering peeling back to a clean install of Slackware -current but I am needing to work not tinker with my machine right this moment.
Is anyone else encountering/fixing wx/gtk/gnome issues? or have any suggestions other than a clean install of Slackware?
