problems with gnome-control-center and printer
by martafe from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6DBW2)
Hello,
I need help to solve the following problem:
when I run gnome-control-center I get the following error:
bus[37847]: arguments to dbus_message_iter_append_basic() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_utf8 (*string_p)" failed in file ../../dbus/dbus-message.c line 2775.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.
D-Bus not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace
Aborted (core dumped)
The window pop up for a second and then disappear. I have installed the new distribution FC38 but it did not solve the problem.
I reinstalled gnome-control-center and at the beginning it was ok but when I tried to configure the printer it crashes again and started to give the same error.
Could this error also be related to problems that I have with a network printer?
In fact I cannot print using Openoffice, Firefox and other programs (they don't see the printer) whereas I can do it with others like Evince.
