Veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis is finalizing a deal with the Chicago Bears, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The 39-year-old played the last five years for the Green Bay Packers, catching 57 passes for 582 yards and six touchdowns in 81 appearances. He was a team captain in each of the last two campaigns.

Lewis finished 2022 with 66 yards and two TDs on six receptions. He ranked 14th in pass blocking among tight ends last year, according to PFF.

The upcoming season will be Lewis' 18th in the NFL, the most ever for a tight end.

The UCLA product played his first 12 NFL seasons for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who drafted him 28th overall in 2006. He appeared in 170 games for the Jaguars and earned a Pro Bowl berth in 2010 after setting career highs with 58 catches, 700 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

Lewis joins a Bears tight end depth chart that features Cole Kmet and Robert Tonyan, among others. Kmet led Chicago with 50 catches for 544 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022.

The Bears host the Packers on Sept. 10 to kick off their 2023 regular season.
