32Gb of virtual memory in a 4Gb RAM system
by ychaouche from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6DKGA)
Dear LQ,
To my understanding,
virtual memory is the total memory a process needs to run,
whether it is actually loaded in physical memory (RAM),
or parts of it are still on disk (haven't been loaded yet,
or paged out).
My machine has 4Gb of RAM,
and there's one application (waterfox browser)
that is claiming a total of 32Go of virtual memory.
Thoughts?
