Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson has missed a portion of training camp as he deals with an ear infection that is impacting his equilibrium.

"I want to be out there with the boys, obviously," Hockenson said Monday, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. "My favorite thing is playing football with the guys in the locker room and having a great time with them. So it stinks, but on the same hand I've got to get ready for September. And that's what I'm looking forward to."

Hockenson added that the ear issue is "starting to get cleared up." Minnesota's starting tight end took part in the extended walk-through portion of Monday's practice session, but he sat out both the contact and full-pads workout. It's unclear if Hockenson will take part in the team's joint practice with the Tennessee Titans later this week.

Minnesota acquired Hockenson in a trade last November from the Detroit Lions. The 2019 first-round pick is set to enter the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. His salary for the 2023 season is set around $9.39 million, according to Spotrac.

The Vikings listed the two-time Pro Bowler among several players the team would like to sign to an extension, along with star receiver Justin Jefferson.

The 26-year-old posted career highs with 86 catches for 914 yards, tying a single-season high of six touchdowns while playing for both the Vikings and Lions in 2022.

As Hockenson deals with his ailment, Josh Oliver and Johnny Mundt are leading the way at tight end.
