How Create Desktop short in RHEL8

Hi Community,
How can I create an application shortcut on a Desktop from RHEL8? I installed an application. I want to have a shortcut on my desktop. When I double-click, it should open the application. I created a link on the desktop using the link command. Whenever I try to double-click on it, it opens it on Textpad. I tried all options from open with the tab on file property, such as Software, Run Software, Shell Extensions, etc, but the program didn't open. How can I create a link when I double click it should run the program?
application -> /opt/level1/home/application
